Got 0-5, you are probably just getting started  Got 5-15, you are a mid-bridezilla type, there’s plenty more to overthink and you don’t!

Got 15-25, don't fret, we can help you

It’s not your fault. Here is what is actually happening in your brain

Wedding planning is a perfect setting for overreacting because it combines:

  • Many Decisions (from seating arrangement to playlist)

  • Seemingly high-impact details (“I will remember it forever!”)

  • Performing and being judged  (“Everyone will notice.”)

  • Scarcity thinking (“I only get one shot.”)

And on top of everything… Your brain reacts in “irrational” ways that worsen your decision making skills, causing you to overspend and overstress.

You don’t need to “chill out.” You need better tools.

Most wedding advice surrenders itself to chaos elements of wedding planning. You’ll see guides outlining the choices you’ll have to make along the way, but not ones that tell you how. They will show you the difference between boho and glam style, but they won’t teach you what to do when you prefer boho but everyone is telling you to do glam.

They will show you the difference between boho and glam style, but they won’t teach you what to do when you prefer boho but everyone is telling you to do glam.

What does help is understanding how to tell the difference between “I actually want this” and “I feel pressure to do this.”  This will help you plan a memorable wedding that reflects you, your taste and your values.

If this article made you feel a little more understood, a little calmer, or a little less alone—that’s exactly why I wrote Mostly Rational Bride. When I was planning my wedding, I was surprised by how “crazy” I became. I consider myself to be very level headed, a bit of a perfectionist, albeit. I felt the walls caving in on me, and the bridal resources out there only made me feel less sure of myself (how would I know the difference between 15 shades of white?)

As a behavioral science expert, I have since reflected on that time of my life and compiled my most valuable insights so you won’t have to go through what most brides do.

Don’t waste your time being engaged. It has the potential to be the most enjoyable time of your life.
